ABSTRACT
Hockey is a sport that has been around since 1875 and has evolved throughout the years. It has always been a male dominated sport. In more recent times women have been making their way into the hockey industry whether it's from a professional women's hockey league to being the president of an ECHL team. For this project I will be filming different women in hockey and creating a video exploring their roles of changing the game throughout their time. Throughout this documentary film I will reveal the immense impacts these women have made to the game. For my research method I have gathered b-roll footage on my own while also using archived footage from online, of different ways women have been trailblazers for the game. With gathering this footage and editing together a documentary style video to highlight the changes that have been made throughout the years and where we are today. What I am looking to uncover through this project is to go behind the curtains and look at different women in this field and their role in a male dominated field. My film highlights their journey, challenges, and everyday lives in their current roles to bring light and inspire women to reach for their goals. This documentary will allow you to put yourself in these womens shoes to truly see their importance in their jobs. Everyone has a story to share and my goal is to capture their journey and share it with the conference.RELATED ABSTRACTS
