ABSTRACT

The Sexual Experiences Survey - Short Form Victimization Scale (SES-SFV; Koss et al., 2024) has been considered the "gold standard" as a quantitative measure of sexual violence victimization. There are multiple versions of the SES, the most recent version was updated in just 2024. The authors included new tactics and acts of experienced victimization, as well as an emphasis on including gender and sexual orientation within its questions. There currently has not been a thorough qualitative evaluation that looks into what it is like for survivors of sexual violence to fill out this measure. The current project will be a secondary investigation within a larger collaborative multi-institutional project. The specific research question for this project will focus on the motivation behind a survivor's decision when classifying the number of times, a form of sexual violence happened to them. This project will involve qualitative interviews using Reflexive Thematic Analysis of survivors' responses to the researcher's interview questions.
