- Abstract
- My project is a feature length script, based on an original idea of mind, with some inspiration from many other sources, most notably movies. The research that was involved in me making the script a reality, was watching the films the project was inspired by, as well as reading the script to those films. This was so that I could develop a film idea that harkened back to the films of a certain genre. That genre I specifically wanted to tackle was slapstick comedy, which isn't a popular genre that is used today. The purpose of my project is to simply entertain. To me, reading a script has its advantages, and I would like people to read a piece of my work, that I consider integral to my process as a writer. Within the end of my current semester, my goal is to have a first draft done, with next semester being focused on revising the draft into a full screenplay with all of the kinks worked out. In terms of broader significance, I believe that my project has the potential to give people some good entertainment, and possibly even a laugh, and many more. I like to think of my job as a writer to entertain people, and that is exactly what I'm trying to accomplish with my project, as I think it is a film and script worth exploring.
