Abstract
Addressing the impact of the opioid crisis and its forever changes to the United States society,  this thesis identifies different aspects of society’s perspective on the pharmaceutical industry and different perspectives within the pharmaceutical industry itself. Previous research has primarily focused on the issues that led people to be affected by the pharmaceutical industry and the aftermath of receiving treatment.  However little research has been done on society itself and the way members of our society feel about the industry. I use data sets and information collected at the time the issue started through the present day and a literature review of the industry and society’s response to the continuing "opioid crisis". My findings identify changes in American society’s perception and actions towards the pharmaceutical industry and predict future impacts to society as it navigates its relationship with the industry.
