- Abstract
This thesis explores the research-driven journey of conceptualizing and crafting the animated series "Mutiny & Mayhem." The initial phase involved an in-depth study of successful animated series bibles and delving into the intricacies of cartoon techniques, unraveling the artistry behind compelling visual storytelling. The following iterative process, marked by many pages of writing and learning, played a pivotal role in defining the creative vision. To captivate audiences of all ages, our thesis underwent numerous adaptations, resulting in the successful creation of a compelling series bible and 70-page pilot episode that seamlessly blends fantasy elements and comedic undertones. A crucial aspect of our thesis involved auditioning and hiring voice actors, giving life to the envisioned characters. We delved deeply into researching the audition process for voice acting and explored the unfamiliar territory of directing for voice actors. This collaborative effort culminated in a live, recorded table read, providing a dynamic and immersive preview of the potential charm and humor inherent in our series. Beyond its exploration of storytelling techniques, this thesis stands as a demonstration of the successful integration of academic research and practical application, offering a quick-witted, character-driven narrative that mirrors our journey from conceptualization to the creation of a vibrant and engaging animated world.
