The Effects of Personal Conversation on Happiness
Through research it’s shown that social connection has a strong influence on happiness in our lives, both positively and negatively. How we interact with people day to day plays a part in how we can feel over the course of a week. Whether it be an embarrassing moment from a couple days ago you keep focusing on, or expressing appreciation to someone in your life, our week can be plagued by our thoughts, or lifted by a simple act. Interest in how people's interactions influence their happiness has led to willingness to research. By reviewing articles, and other sources surrounding social connections, with an emphasis on conversation it will be determined if it can increase happiness and well-being. Beyond small talk, but deeper conversations with heavier topics. Real life conversation will also be an aspect of the research. An aim is to gain a base understanding of social connection through research, and then see how conversation can build off of it. Further research will go into how listening, body language, and the topic influence the effects on happiness. The main goal is to find that conversation has a noticeable effect on happiness through research, and practice it by engaging in deep conversation with people, and record thoughts and the potential impact of the conversations.
