- Abstract
- Natural Climate Solutions (NSC) is the ultimate tool to address climate change given its complex multifaceted nature. The objective of this research is to create awareness of NCS and the various action plans available to mitigate global warming. The method followed was a systematic review of scientific literature and government databases. The five main principles of NCS are “nature-based, sustainable, climate-additional, measurable, and equitable” to mitigate climate change. Nature-based means using natural processes such as reforestation or wetland restoration to sequester carbon; Sustainable refers to strategies for long-term effectiveness; climate addition refers to conservation efforts to reduce carbon emission reductions; measurable means that carbon reduction is quantified and monitored; and equitable is the fair sharing of benefits and resources. This approach emphasizes the importance of sustaining biodiversity and enhancing ecosystems' resilience to environmental degradation thereby benefiting our livelihood and communities. In conclusion, if we can follow these principles we can achieve long-lasting natural climate solutions.
