ABSTRACT

In a world of logic and reason, physics and the known universe, we can take comfort in knowing that we have a steady grasp on our reality. But what if that comforting knowledge was suddenly not applicable? Between the known universe and life itself dwell the mysterious and barbaric lifeforms known as “Groins”, a demented version of the worst parts of humans. Inspired by video games, biology books, and strange niche forms of character design, The World of Groin’s ultimate goal is to provoke thought about the world and its surrounding inhabitants. As alluded to before, the species of life in this world aren't the only strange thing. There's something off here. The Twin Suns stay ever present in the other-worldly sky. The need for living things to intake energy to survive is seeming lost and forgotten about. You start to doubt your own memory, your own vision. You don’t belong there.

In the future, The World of Groin will develop into a non-standard approach to storytelling; combining the format of a biology book with a narrative taking place over journal entries in which the personal records of our main protagonist are documented (think Charles Darwin). I’ve been collecting non-fiction picture books and studying the format, language and organization to make the project seem as real as possible. My ultimate goal for this project is to publish a book (or series of books) detailing the strange phenomena and creatures this world has to offer.
